PDGs Greg Yank and Catherine Taylor Yank (Rotary Clubs of O'Fallon and O'Fallon Sunrise, Illinois) share a deep commitment to Rotary and their southern Illinois community. In addition to serving District 6510 as Governors, Greg and Catherine are Major Donors and Bequest Society members and have traveled extensively for Rotary projects.

As small business owners, the Yanks appreciate the advantages of Rotary's Donor Advised Fund. Catherine noted, "We have taken care of our kids and now we want to focus on helping others." As 2012 drew to a close, it was clear that it would be a good time to make additional tax-deductible gifts. "We wanted to give, but we did not know exactly how." Past RI Director Robert Stuart suggested that they consider Rotary's Donor Advised Fund.

The Yanks knew that their longtime Rotary friends Karen Wentz and Ron Appuhn (Rotary Club of Maryville-Alcoa, Tennessee) were very happy with their Rotary Donor Advised Fund, so they decided to open an account. "It was certainly easy," noted Catherine, "and once we opened the account, we could take the time we needed to decide which organizations to support."

The Yanks are pleased to be able to give through The Rotary Foundation. "We strongly believe in the Foundation's mission and Rotary's place in the world" Greg stated. "It is one thing to read about what Rotary does, and something else to see firsthand the impact of Rotary, particularly internationally. I call it the power and magic of Rotary at work in the world to change lives and improve the human condition."

Greg and Catherine are proud that their children Gerrit Yank and Julia Yank (charter members, Rotary Club of St. Clair County Sunset, Illinois) are both Rotarians and members of The Rotary Foundation's Bequest Society. "Before they became Rotarians, our kids did not understand why we do all we do for Rotary. Now they get it," Catherine said with a smile.
